A Universidade de Columbia, de Nova York, anunciou nesta segunda-feira os vencedores da 99ª edição do prêmio Pulitzer, criado em 1917 e que contempla as melhores reportagens e fotografias publicadas por jornais nos Estados Unidos.
O pequeno jornal "The Post and Courier of Charleston", da Carolina do Sul, foi anunciado como vencedor da categoria Public Service com a matéria "Till death do us part" ("Até que a morte nos separe"), que mostra histórias relacionadas à violência doméstica e ao alto índice de mortes de mulheres por seus companheiros no estado.

O vencedor na categoria Fotografia Breaking News foi o jornal St. Louis Post-Dispatch pela foto dos protestos em Ferguson nos EUA.
O prêmio de melhor fotografia foi para Daniel Berehulak , fotógrado freelancer do The New York Times pela sua cobertura da epidemia de Ebola na África.
